Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend  Next Entry

painting is finally finished!
one more to start and hopefully finish by the 4th of July.

also, my work was mentioned on this blog the other day:
Drink This Cola!
check it out!

in other news...
came across these photos of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.
looks like this is gonna be pretty damn epic.

the makeup alone is making me all tingly inside.

i have a shoot later this evening and since i'm posting about my two favorite types of art i figured i'd mix up today's art drop to include makeup as well.

I have always liked those little guys, even better painted XD

AiW - As long as he doesn't go all American McGee or Looking Glass Wars on it, I think it should be good.

I really liked American Mcgee though. It's one of my favorite reinterpretations.

Oh, McGee is fine on its own. But I want to see all Burton in this case.

It is at the MOMA in November. I am flying from LA to see it along with other creepsters in the creepiest of cities. I think it runs tile the end of January.

to me Tim Burton is the last director in the world I would be excited to see adapt Alice and wonderland. not that it looks shitty it just seem so predictable and uninspired. I used to love Tim Burton and think he was incredibly imaginative, but these days it looks like he's repeating himself. I'm sick of the Burton,Depp,Helena trio. to me what would actually get me excited to see a Tim Burton film would be if it's an original screen play written by him, has a totally not Gothic aesthetic, and features only actors he's never worked with before.

honestly, i haven't had any faith in Burton (story wise) in a long time...but he NEVER fails to deliver on the imagery.

and really, that's all i'm looking forward to here.

I like your paintings a lot. The use of color is amazing and energetic. The thick lines are awesome too. I like that you don't worry about all that multiple layers of shading. I wish I could go back to that sometimes.

thanks!

my style has been changing over the years.
right now i just really like a clean, "designed" look that's more about structure and color and the weirdness of the characters.

though i can definitely pull shading out of my ass when need be, hahaha.

i like the color. poppy pop steez. my friend paints in a similar manner. she'd also refer to it as whimsical gore, but I told her the name was already taken.

burton <3 nightmare before christmas is tied to my soul. a simple and entrancing love story with existential underpinnings.
