i went to Pearl River Mart yesterday to pick up origami paper and ended up walking out with some delicious green tea flavored azuki cakes, which i've been eating non-stop.

of course, being a tea fanatic, i'm now OBSESSED with finding pictures and whatnot of wagashi:

afterward, i stopped down by Pearl River Mart to pick up some origami paper (and delicious green tea bean paste cakes!).

last nite i performed at TRASH! with the amazing Melody Sweets and the always lovely Miss Stormy Leather.

well, not sure how i feel about this.

honestly, the story looks like it's going to suck ASS.

HOWEVER, the animation looks AMAZING - especially considering this was all PAPERLESS and done on cintiqs, with a crew of only about 500.

thoughts??

i'm showing my artwork this week!! [

i'm showing some of my artwork for the first time this week!
please excuse the crappy flyer, definitely NOT a designer!

this is a free event & it would be awesome if people actually came, ahahaha!
i'm going to be showing my "Cute Not Cuddly" series (aka my little monster paintings).

if you're in the area feel free to stop by and say hi or just pre-game for a while with me - i'm not really that big of a bitch in person, i swear!

on Saturday my work is moving to The Skinny...it'll be there for a couple of weeks before the next thing (who knows what that is!), so i guess if you can't make it to Niagara you'll still have a chance to view it with your beer goggles on at some point.
haha!!

yo,
if your S.O. breaks up with you so they can "see other people", the people they end up fooling around with should AT LEAST be on par if not more attractive than you.

just sayin.

spent last nite drinking mojitos and blowing shit up on my parent's front lawn.

today i took an excursion to Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo (a world class zoo that if you ever have the chance to see, DO SO!!), made homemade ice cream from scratch, and am now enjoying some refreshing ice cold lime beer.

anyway, more photos of my trip after the cut! )

just a couple of things:

i am spending the 4th of July weekend back in Omaha - leaving tomorrow morning and i'll be back in the city Tuesday.
i need to get away for a little while and recharge...some much stupid shit has gone down in the last month and it'll be good to leave it all behind, even if for only four days.

i started a new painting last nite:

it's for an upcoming group show about women and beauty...
hopefully i'll bang it out pretty fast once i get back.

oh!
and my friends The Swellers just signed with Fueled by Ramen today!
check it out here.

well, tomorrow i go in to the dentist to replace a filling that apparently fell out somewhere along the line.
which is really quite annoying, considering i take damn good care of my teeth to make sure this sort of thing doesn't happen.
although to be honest, it's not because i have some fear of my teeth falling out or getting gum disease or what-have-you.
the whole reason i even take care of my teeth in the first place has nothing to do with giving a shit about my oral health but goes right back to my hideous and unrelenting fear of needles:

I DON'T WANT A GODDAMN SHOT.

frustratingly ironic how this is ending up.
D:<

anyway, i figured i'd do an art drop to pass the time while i'm numbed up and freaking out.
this time i'm gonna mix it up by posting ALL VIDEO WORKS.

enjoy!

ok, so i keep finding all this random shit that i worked on AGES ago.

this is from when i was at Spek Studios back in the day...
honestly, i'm not even sure how much of this is me (they kept changing what was going to be done and what medium we were using - Flash or traditional)...
but i can safely say all of the character's mouth positions and some of the lip synch was ME.
(possibly some of the original animation for the button pushing was left in, and the coffee & cigarette smoking.)

clink the link to watch Parts 2-4!!! )

seriously, what is up with Summer 09?
why is everyone dying?
ANY WHY ARE THEY ALL DYING AT HOME/OF UNKNOWN CAUSES?

Jeff Hanson was a folk singer from the Twin Cities area -
his 2003 KillRockStars album "Son" is ridiculously goddamn amazing and i remember having it on repeat nonstop when i first found it several years ago.
i was listening to it again last nite when i looked up info on him and found out he was found dead in his Saint Paul apartment earlier this month.
:(

anyway, if you like what you hear, be sure and check the album out.
"The End of Everything Known" is really wonderful.

ok.
does anyone remember gravity boots?

i spent the early part of the day at a fine art photo shoot being suspended from my FEET by these bad boys from a metal bar with my head dangling about 2 feet above a concrete floor.

don't let her deceptively innocent smile fool you - THERE IS NOTHING FUN ABOUT THESE BOOTS.
i mean, if you're a normal person - sure, probably no problem.
HOWEVER
these things are a NIGHTMARE for anyone with anxiety issues (aka ME.)

here's how it went:
i was placed on a gurney about six feet off the ground, boots on feet.
they wheeled me up to the bar - at which point i was supposed to lift my legs to hook the two little metal clips onto the bar.
they would then wheel the gurney away while supporting me, then let go.

sounds easy until you're fucking up there and those two little metal hooks look like they're gonna do jack SHIT and you're going to go crashing into the concrete floor headfirst and (if you're lucky) paralyze yourself from the neck down.

but good news, gentle readers.
this neurotic bundle of nerves ACTUALLY MADE IT PAST HER FEAR AND DID IT!
yea, it took a couple of minutes and i was all sweaty and not very happy, but i fucking did it goddamn it!
i felt kinda bad for the artist for being such a pussy about the whole thing.
i honestly had no idea i would freak out like that - but hey!
that's what happens when you work with "talent", right?
hahaha.

last night was kind of nuts.
my friend David was hosting TRASH!, and [info]heartshapedkey was in the area, so we met up and stopped by Webster Hall.

PEOPLE. WAS. DRANK.

right now i have to hurry and get ready to head to The Delancey...
Stormy Leather & i are gogo dancing for a ZZ Top tribute gig.
afterward i gotta head to my friend (and brilliant artist & writer) Stacey Garratt's birthday shindig.

ta-ta!!

omg so much shit went on yesterday.

i had a gig gogo dancing at Don Hill's for Queen V's Take Back New York party/show.

afterward, a group of people that know each other from The Skinny met up at Santos Party House for drinks...later we stopped by Motor City and met up with some "friends of friends", who decided to hang out at an apartment that belonged to one of the girls in the group.
things were fine until around 7:30 in the morning, when one of the people in our group got not only WAY too drunk, but violent as well - out of NOWHERE.

throwing things, dumping drinks on people, etc. etc.
everyone decided it was time to go.
as we're heading to the door, said guy randomly shoves the hostess into the wall, then starts yelling when he can't open the door.
i go to try and unlock the door - and he kicks me
IN THE STOMACH.
then runs off.

of course i call the police (everyone started freaking out - i feel like no one in NYC has ever dealt with the cops before?? they can't really DO anything) to take a report and just tell them that a drunk, violent guy is now running around the Grammercy Apartments.

there is a reason i stopped "hanging out" afterhours when i've done a party, and now i remember this is why.
i got tired of dealing with drunk/drugged up/god knows what assholes a couple of years ago.
from now on, it's work - then home.

ANYWAY.
i had a shoot that got cut short due to weather & technical problems the other day.
here are some preview photos:

enjoy.

also, my work was mentioned on this blog the other day:
Drink This Cola!
check it out!

in other news...
came across these photos of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.
looks like this is gonna be pretty damn epic.

the makeup alone is making me all tingly inside.

i have a shoot later this evening and since i'm posting about my two favorite types of art i figured i'd mix up today's art drop to include makeup as well.
